This Parang Soca Special, will feature original Christmas Parang, Parang Soca, & Soca Parang music. A blend of Spanish music, mainly from Venezuela, and Soca music from Trinidad & Tobago's (T&T) Soul-Calypso music.
This Parang artform has gone viral, internationally, due to Caribbean migration.
The Paranderos performers, originally traveled throughout their neighborhoods, singing Spanish Christmas songs.
These Paranderos, would be invited to perform in many homes. They would eat, drink, and dance, just a little, since they had other homes to visit.
Though this celebration was mainly on Boxing-Day, 12/26, it now begins in September, lasting until the 1st week of January. But with a twist.
Because it's now celebrated internationally, these Paranderos perform at different venues, more in the form of "show & dance" events.
Parang Soca can be heard on Caribbean formatted radio stations and streams, mixed with eclectic music, intensifying in format, until the holiday seasons end.
Artists perform abroad, to meet the demands of their audiences. With Covid in play, Radio stations in T&T have embarked on live virtual concerts, during these festive holiday seasons. Audiences financially support these events.
