"Montuneando" continues the programming trajectory established on September 22, 1985 by Con Sabor Latino on WBAI. McM proudly plays new and classic Cuban music, Afro-Cuban rhythms and all of its iterations including Salsa, Son, Danzon, Latin Jazz, Charanga, Changui, Songo, Timba, Rumba, Guaguanco, Orisha rhythms and much more!

For this edition Marysol welcomed Puerto Rican social justice activists David Galarza Santa, Lorraine Liriano, and Victor Amauri to discuss the critical response needed in Puerto Rico due to earthquakes that have plagued the island and its inhabitants since December 28th, 2019. This is in light of painfully slow and limited aid from local and federal government going back to October 2017 when hurricanes Irma and Maria ravaged the island. Master Percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo joined us by phone to tribute his fallen brother, another percussion legend and fellow co-founder of prolific and trailblazing band Batacumbele, Angel "Cachete" Maldonado. Giovanni shares anecdotes about their shared journey in music and lifelong friendship. McM paid musical tribute to Cachete, playing music from Batacumbele, Cachete y Los Majaderos plus other recordings he did with the likes of Descarga Boricua, Mongo Santamaria, Tipica 73, and more.
