Synopsis:

In this week’s segment we discuss sportswashing and the success of the call to boycott the U.S. and the recently ended World Cup. We begin with the Trump administrations domestic repression and plans to criminalize leftist organizing.

The Trump administration has accelerated its attacks on leftist organizations and individuals while also justifying its genocidal siege of Cuba with the release of the document Cuba: the Capital of 21st Century Communism. This follows executive order National Security Presidential Memorandum-7 (NSPM-7) which provides a rationale for state repression and the criminalization of left organizing. Ajamu Barak, Black Agenda Report contributing editor is also executive director of the north south project for people centered human rights. He provides analysis on this newest iteration of state repression in the US.

Today we are joined by Austin Cole, who is one of 3 co-coordinators of the Black Alliance for Peace.  The Black Alliance for Peace and other organizations called on the International Community to Boycott the 2026 World Cup which was held in the United States. Now that the world cup is over we will discuss the boycott and its purpose and whether its goals were met.
