In this week’s segment we hear about an international tribunal for Palestine which will document and render a ruling on evidence of genocide in Gaza and the West Bank. We also examine the bipartisan nature of US imperialism, as the late Glen Ford explained in 2019. But first we will begin with discussion of a campaign to organize solidarity for Venezuela as the U.S. threatens a military attack.
The U.S. regime change effort against Venezuela has recently intensified with the killings of Venezuelans, Trinidadians, and Colombians, said to be drug traffickers. This is the latest salvo in the long U.S. war against Venezuela’s Bolivarian revolution. In the first Trump administration, unilateral coercive measures, sanctions, were responsible for the deaths of more than 50,000 people in that country. Now an aircraft carrier strike group heads toward Venezuela amidst threats of direct military action. Our guest is Erica Caines. She is a co-coordinator of the Black Alliance for Peace, one of many organizations which has called for a week of action in solidarity with Venezuela which begins on November 15. Erica Caines joins us from Baltimore.
We're joined by Farah Imad, an organizer of the International People's Tribunal for Palestine which take place in Barcelona on November 22nd and 23rd. She is a volunteer with the tribunal and with the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature, one of the organizations endorsing the tribunal. She is a lawyer who has written about international law and human rights.
The Trump administration’s threats against Venezuela are a reminder that U.S. aggression is thoroughly bipartisan. In 2019 the late Glen Ford provided this analysis of a democratic party presidential debate, in which even progressives were prepared to support Trump’s regime change plans.
And that was the late Glen Ford, providing analysis of the continuity and bipartisan nature of U.S. imperialist actions.
