In this week’s segment we hear about an upcoming conference dedicated to Black, radical organizers in the U.S. But first we have an update on the Congo, and the principles of agreement between Congo and Rwanda that is brokered by the U.S. with commitments for investment in strategic minerals access.
The Democratic Republic of Congo and the republic of Rwanda recently sign a Declaration of Principles in Washington. Is Rwanda ending its M23 group’s incursion into the DRC? What are the principles agreed to? How will this impact the people of Congo? Why did these events take place in Washington? What is the US role in the conflict? Maurice Carney, Executive Director of Friends of the Congo joins us from Washington to provide analysis.
The second National Black Radical Organizing Conference will convene in Indianapolis, Indianapolis from May 30 through June 1. The conference theme is “Base-Building for Collective Power.” We are joined by Too Black, one of the conference organizers. Too Black is a poet, scholar, filmmaker, and organizer. He is the host of the Black Myths Podcast, co-director of the documentary film "The Pendleton 2: They Stood Up", and co-author of the book "Laundering Black Rage: The Washing of Black Death, People, Property, and Profits."
