Israel’s Celebration of Sixty Years Is The Palestinians’ Catastrophe – al Nakba
"Occupation 101" - Voices of the Silenced Majority

Sixty years ago this week the Zionist movement was successful with the assistance of western powers in realizing its aim of a Jewish national state. Thus began the displacement, confinement and imprisonment of millions of Palestinians. As Israel celebrates and Palestinians mourn, Building Bridges presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the historical and current causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “Occupation 101” details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the U.S. and the major obstacles to a viable and lasting peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences and from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders & humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets. The occupation of Palestine remains a catalyst for the violence in the Middle East and for those who want peace we must struggle for justice. Produced & Hosted by Mimi Rosenberg & Ken Nash. Special Broadcast of Winter Soldier
On Wednesday April 16th and Thursday April 17th WBAI pre-empted most programming all day to air a repeat broadcast of Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan. This featured testimony from U.S. veterans who served in those occupations, giving an accurate account of what is really happening day in and day out, on the ground.

The four-day Winter Soldier event brought together veterans from across the country to testify about their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan - and present video and photographic evidence. In addition, panels of scholars, veterans, journalists, and other specialists gave context to the testimony. These panels covered everything from the history of the GI resistance movement to the fight for veterans' health benefits and support.
