Tonight, December 26 into 27, from 1 to 3 AM, more ultra-rare Marvel Superhero records from 1966, and an adventure with FLASH GORDON from 1979. In our second hour, another lost JEAN SHEPHERD from December 26, 1970 “The Return of the Smiling Wimpy Doll!” Tune in to WBAI-NY 99.5 FM or listen on the stream at wbai.org.

From 1979 Wonderland records, we have the first of three adventures of FLASH GORDON “The Tyrant of Mongo.”

 

And in our second hour, another lost JEAN SHEPHERD from WOR-NY on Saturday Dec 26, 1970 “The Return of the Smiling Wimpy Doll”


From the Playboy blurb in the issue in which the story first appeared:

In the seasonal spirit is Jean Shepherd's "The Return of the Smiling Wimpy Doll," a new bauble from his bottomless bag of nostalgia, wherein our hero's well-meaning mother, cleaning out the family basement, elects to send him as a Christmas present - all the moldering memorabilia that remain from his all-American boyhood.
