RIKERS ISLAND, ORAL HISTORY, JEWISH ORGANIZING
We're joined by Darren Mack of Freedom Agenda. Reuven Blau and Graham Rayman, authors of the new book "Rikers: An Oral History" (Penguin Random House).Followed by Sy Goldstein, a trans abolitionist building community with incarcerated Jews at Rikers Island. And Shoshana Brown joins Rafael Shimunov as cohost!
Darren Mack is an activist, advocate, and organizer. Darren is a Co-Director at Freedom Agenda, a member-led organization, dedicated to organizing people and communities directly impacted by incarceration, to achieve decarceration and system transformation.
Graham Rayman covers criminal justice, including the New York City jails, for the New York Daily News.
Reuven Blau is a Senior Reporter at The City.
Sy Goldstein is a trans Jewish abolitionist who organizes with Outlive Them and has been building community with incarcerated Jews at Rikers.
Shoshana Brown is a school social worker, organizer, healer, and third generation New Yorker.
