CURATOR MARC KEHOE'S EXHIBIT OF EAST&WEST VILLAGE ART
CAT RADIO CAFÉ: CURATOR MARC KEHOE ON “FRAMING THE VILLAGE: AN EXHIBITION OF WEST VILLAGE AND EAST VILLAGE ART”
On tonight’s show we’ll be joined by artist and curator Marc Kehoe to extend an open call for an upcoming exhibit at Revelation Gallery at St. John’s in the Village called Framing the Village: An Exhibition of West Village and East Village Art which will take place from September 6-30 2022. It will be a salon-style group exhibition of paintings, drawings, and photography depicting or reflecting the artists’ impressions and feelings about Greenwich Village and the East Village. It is open to all Village artists as part of The Village Trip Arts Festival.
Marc Kehoe studied painting and sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and filmmaking at The Rhode Island School of Design where he began working with video and 8mm film. He has written, produced and directed “Super-8 sound” underground films such as The Naked Hipstress, Revenge of the Amazons, and Destroy All Blondes and organized and hosted “low tech” film presentations at The Kitchen and The Coney Island Museum. He has Art Directed the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, and art directed and designed graphics and photography for magazines, advertising, and websites with multi-media elements.
Kehoe’s paintings have shown in New York City at Art of the Century, Art Lab Gallery at Sailor’s Snug Harbor, The Coney island Museum, Galleria Maniseo and La Mama La Galleria, as well as the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist’s Coalition, Centerpoint Gallery Anthroposophy, Open Door Open Studios of Clemente Soto Velez Culltural and Educational Center, City Lore Gallery, the Ernest Rubenstein and Jewish Communal Galleries at Manny Cantor Center – and Van Vessem Gallery in Tiverton, RI.
He was a regular writer/performer on the WBAI political satire show, CCCP (aka Christmas Coup Comedy Players): The Monthly Laughing Nightmare, and is a licensed New York City tour guide.
