ARTUR SCHNABEL AND FAMILY
We have a "legacy" program for you on Morning Irsay Sunday May 30, 8-10AM. The program was aired on July 14, 2013 - a Schnabel Fest.
My guests on that day included Ann Mottier, grand-daughter of Artur Schnabel and daughter of pianist and pedagogue Karl Ulrich Schnabel; Ann’s husband François Mottier was also in the studio. François and Anne have devoted their lives to maintaining the legacy of the Schnabel family, which includes pianist-composer Artur Schnabel, Artur’s wife Therese Behr Schnabel, a fine contralto and huge musical influence on her husband, Helen Fogel Schnabel (Ann's mother), who was a very classy pianist who played Duo-Piano with her husband Karl Ulrich Schnabel. Ann and François’s late son Claude Mottier was also a pianist, whose memory inspired the creation of the Schnabel Music Foundation.
