"GROWING UP BANK STREET: A GREENWICH VILLAGE MEMOIR"

On this show we’ll be joined by author Donna Florio whose debut memoir, “Growing Up Bank Street: A Greenwich Village Memoir” is a well-remembered, well-researched love letter to a six-block stretch of Greenwich Village where the author has lived all her life, in several apartments, but always at the same address, 63. First her playground, later her university of the streets, Florio remembers generations of Bank Street neighbors, some famous like Christopher Plummer, Bella Abzug, and John and Yoko; some remarkable even for a central artery of Bohemia, like Marion Tanner, the model for Auntie Mame.

Raised by her free-spirited theater parents, Donna has been an opera singer, a network TV producer, a Wall Street executive, and an educator in Southeast Asia and Africa. “Growing Up Bank Street,” her first book, is published by NYU Press.

Hosted by Janet Coleman and David Dozer
