DR. SUNITA PURI ON PALLIATIVE CARE FOR PETS
On Sunday, November 1, at 9 AM ET on WBAI 99.5 FM NY and streaming at wbai.org, hosts Jeff Simmons and Erin Clarke welcome Dr. Sunita Puri to discuss palliative care for pets and the difficult decisions families face when an animal is seriously ill or nearing the end of life.
Dr. Puri is an associate professor of medicine at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where she directs the Inpatient Palliative Care Service. The conversation draws on her New Yorker essay, “When Should You Say Goodbye to a Pet?” The hosts will explore how pet hospice can ease pain and support comfort, how to think about a pet’s quality of life, and how families can approach the question of when to say goodbye.
Animal Matters is listener-supported. Help keep WBAI’s independent programming on the air by becoming a BAI Buddy at buddy.wbai.org.
