GETTING TO KNOW OPOSSUMS
On Sunday, October 18, Animal Matters hosts Jeff Simmons and Erin Clarke welcome Sharon A. Jansa, co-author with Robert S. Voss of Opossums: An Adaptive Radiation of New World Marsupials, published by Johns Hopkins University Press.
Listeners asked us to explore the world of opossums, so we’ll look beyond the familiar Virginia opossum and learn about the many species found across the Americas. We’ll talk about their remarkable adaptations, where they live, what they eat, their role in local ecosystems, and what science can tell us about behaviors such as “playing possum.”
In the second half of the show, call us with your questions and thoughts at 212-209-2877.
Tune in Sunday at 9 a.m. on WBAI 99.5 FM NY or stream at WBAI.org. Animal Matters is listener-supported. Please become a BAI Buddy in the name of Animal Matters at buddy.wbai.org.
