RETHINKING WHAT WE FEED OUR PETS
On the Sunday, September 6, 2026 edition of Animal Matters, airing at 9 AM ET on WBAI 99.5 FM New York and streaming at WBAI.org, host Jeff Simmons talks with Dr. Tricia Stimac, an integrative veterinarian at The Royal Treatment Veterinary Center in Chicago and past president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.
The conversation focuses on species-appropriate nutrition — what dogs and cats really need in their diets, the differences between canine and feline nutrition, and the potential benefits and drawbacks of fresh, minimally processed, homemade and raw foods. Dr. Stimac also discusses how to evaluate pet-food labels, what “complete and balanced” means, and how diet can affect an animal’s overall health.
