Creepshow

Four plays about things that you hope don’t get under your skin.

SUSPENSE from CBS on Aug 25, 1957 “Leinengen vs The Ants”

William Conrad had performed this script at least twice before this, maybe even three times, on Escape and Suspense—but he’s great in this one. Also starring Ben Wright, Lou Merrill and Don Diamond. Good stuff. Recording from the Armed Forces Radio Network.

LIGHTS OUT from CBS on May 18, 1943 “The Spider”

This one is about a spider that just sits and stares at you. Is there anything worse? No.

Also, who would think you could make money in a circus with a giant spider? Written by Arch Oboler, with Lou Merrill.

ESCAPE from CBS on Oct 15, 1947 “A Shipment of Mute Fate”

This play was so popular on Escape that it was broadcast three different times, and then Suspense produced it a few times as well. We’re going to listen to the best one, with Jack Webb back when he was acting, Raymond Lawrence and DJ Thompson. From a story by Martin Storm.

UNION SIGNAL on May 26, 2019 “The Colony”

In this Union Signal play, you get to decide which induces more dread: Dentists or spiders. With Terry Kinney, Lisa Karlin, Doug Bost, Tracy Sallows, Jeff Ward, Robert Petkoff, Susan Wands, Doug Tysk, Mary Micari and Carolyn Baeumler.
