NO NYC PENSION $$$ FOR ISRAEL BONDS
Indypendent News Hour co-hosts John Tarleton and Amba Guerguerian will speak with Cara Levine and Judith Loebl of Jewish Voice for Peace about the Breaking the Bonds campaign to stop City Comptroller Mark Levine's plans to resume purchasing Israeli bonds with money from New York City's pension funds, a practice that was ended by his predecessor Brad Lander.
In the second half of today's show, we'll speak with Brooklyn-based mother, writer, artist and activist Priscilla Grim. She was swept up three years ago this March in an indiscriminate police crackdown on protests against Cop City, the proposed militarized police training compound in Atlanta's Weelaunee Forest.
She and 60 other Cop City opponents were subsequently indicted in the largest political RICO case in U.S. history. Priscilla joins us today to talk about the latest developments in her case, the struggle against Cop City and the carceral state and what it's like trying to rebuild your life while having domestic terrorism charges hanging over you.
