Pooya Mohseni was born and raised in Tehran; the Iranian-American actor and LGBTQ activist shares her thoughts on Donald Trump's war on Iran with Out-FM's Pauline Park for the hour. Pooya describes surviving conversion therapy, multiple suicide attempts, and arrests by the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) before fleeing Iran in 1997, ultimately becoming the only openly trans Iranian-American actor on Broadway. She passionately opposes both the Islamic Republic's oppression and the U.S. bombing campaign, arguing that collective punishment is a war crime and that destroying Iran's infrastructure will not liberate its people but rather strengthen hardliners and trap civilians between two violent forces. Pooya emphasizes that despite the regime's cruelty toward her as a queer person, she still values Iranian lives and believes no one deserves to be bombed, rejecting the binary thinking that forces people to choose between supporting the regime or supporting war.
