REMEMBERING BLOODY SUNDAY DERRY 1972.
We'll commemorate Bloody Sunday—the tragic events of January 30, 1972, in Derry. On that day, British soldiers from the Parachute Regiment opened fire on unarmed civil rights demonstrators during an anti-internment march in the Bogside area, killing 13 people immediately (with a 14th dying later from wounds) . I'll also share a story from my new play, Taxi 2 Tic Tok—about how I unexpectedly ended up as the subject of a portrait by the renowned watercolor artist Mary Whyte ,internationally celebrated for her evocative paintings of contemporary people.
