LAW AND DISORDER JANUARY 12, 2026
Co-hosts Michael Smith and Maria Hall speak with author Patrick Markee about his new book titled Placeless: Homelessness in the New Gilded Age. We get a deep evaluation of the homeless crisis in New York City and around the country. It's huge. On any one night, 130,000 people are homeless in New York City. Homelessness is not the fault of the homeless. It's not a moral issue. It's a problem that can be addressed and solved.
Hosts also look at the bold imperialistic attack when the United States military kidnapped the president of Venezuela and his wife, taking them to New York City on the preposterous charges that they were narco traffickers. Our guest Jeff Mackler says subjecting Venezuela has been a long-time project of the right wing in the United States, with the potential goal of commandeering their oil and natural resources, controlling their government, and also taking down the government of Cuba. Jeff is the National Secretary of the U.S. political party, Socialist Action and its candidate for the U.S. presidency in 2016 and 2020.
