"THE CINEMA WITHIN" - A NEW DOC
THE CINEMA WITHIN: NEW DOC BY CHAD FRIEDRICHS
On tonight’s show, we’ll be joined by filmmaker Chad Friedrichs to discuss his new doc, The Cinema Within: An Inquiry into the Deepest of Cinematic Mysgteries. The Cinema Within is a feature-length documentary that delves into the psychology of film editing – the mystery of how and why an edited movie --despite often bizarre disruptions of reality – seems so natural and so effortlessly to make sense.
Chad Friedrichs is an independent documentary filmmaker. He has previously directed and produced four feature-length documentary films, including Jandek on Corwood, The Experimental City, and The Pruitt-Igoe Myth. Among its many honors, The Pruitt-Igoe Myth was acquired for the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection in 1917 and was on display in New York from 2019-2022. Freidrichs performs nearly every production task on his films, but specializes in editing and the creative aspects of post-production, which he loves most of all.
