LGBT CENTER SUES TRUMP ADMIN.; DEFENDING LGBTQ+ YOUTH

NYC LGBT Center Joins Lawsuit Against Trump Executive Orders

The NYC LGBT Center is a party to a national lawsuit against the Trump administration's Executive Orders attacking LGBTQ+ people. The orders threaten cuts to Federal funds for services to LGBTQ+ people. The Center's Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Klein explains the issues raised by the lawsuit and the impact these cuts would have on LGBTQ+ people across the USA.

Free To Be Youth Project Serves LGBTQ+ Young Homeless and Street-Involved People

Amy Leipziger, the Project Director of the Free To Be Youth Project (FTBYP), describes the legal support the FTBYP provides in institutions for LGBTQ+ young people. She emphasizes the intense fear the Trump administration has created for these youth and the exhaustion of the workers trying to help them. She notes in particular the combining of attacks from federal and local government officials on these youths as Mayor Adams complies with immigration authorities to protect himself from corruption charges.

Amy Leipziger is the Project Director of the Free to Be Youth Project at the Urban Justice Center, which works to interrupt the cycles of poverty and criminalization that prevent homeless and street-involved LGBTQ+ young people from living fulfilling lives free from discrimination, abuse, and oppression. She is dedicated to representing and advocating around the issues of gender, poverty, and discrimination.
