JERUSALEM,EXPLAINED: WHY TRUMP'S DECISION MATTERS
Jerusalem,explained: Why Trump's decision matters
and what's next to support a Free, Free Palestine?
Why is Trump's announcement that the United States considers
Jerusalem to be Israel's capital such a big deal? What's the dispute over
Jerusalem about anyway? Let's provide the historic context for this latest
outrage against Palestinian self-determination..
What has given the Israeli’s the right to occupy historic Palestine while
systematically ignoring the rights of the Palestinian people in their homeland?
While attention is focused on the present day ongoing crimes against
Palestinians including discrimination in Israel and ongoing, indeed increased,
dispossession from the West Bank and murderous crimes against of Gaza,
few focus on this as the result of a process which began with the original
Zionist settlements of Palestine in the beginnings of the 20th century. This
led to the Nakba (Catastrophe) of 1948, murders and forced eviction of
hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their country and establishment
of the state of Israel. Through the years Israel has continued to extend its
domain through the remaining Palestinian enclaves in the West Bank and
Negev while starving and murdering thousands in Gaza.
Building Bridges will explore this history of criminal colonization over
the past century through three of the most excellent documentary films
which present archival footage and analysis on its history “Al Nakbar (the
Catastrophe)” , "Roadmap to Apartheid" narrated by Alice Walker which
provides a look a the apartheid analogy commonly used to to descirbe the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict.and "The Occupation of the American Mind" which
throws a harsh light on Israel's decades long propaganda war in the U.S.
These documentaries give us the perspective to understand the present
through the lens of the past so that we can build a future which brings justice
and self-determination to the Palestinian people.
