A Three Hour Building Bridges & Housing Notebook Special
The Case for Impeachment for the Dangerous Case of Donald Trump!
Forget the corporate-funded mass media that continues to cover our descent
into tyranny as if it were a sports contest between corporate Republicans and
corporate Democrats or a reality show starring our maniacal president , the
extremist ideologues and profiteers who surround him , and we can’t forget
his court jesters – 99.5 FM, WBAI turns down the noise and gives us the
choice to turn up truth. The crisis we face is not embodied in the public
images of the politicians that run our dysfunctional government. The crisis
we face is the result of a decades-long, slow-motion corporate coup that has
rendered the citizen impotent, left us without authentic democratic institutions
and allowed corporate and military power to become omnipotent. It is this
crisis that has spawned a corrupt electoral system of legalized bribery and
empowered those public figures that master the arts of entertainment and
artifice. Trump is the symptom, not the disease.
But, with the advent of Trump we are in politically unchartered waters – the
durability of our public institutions are being undermined and eroded
threatening American democracy itself. Trump’s presidency smoke has
become fire and it is incumbent upon us to present the findings of noted
mental health professionals. Gone are the days when euphemisms about
Trump’s mental health insulated the man like so many padded walls. Erratic.
Unpredictable. Unstable. Unmoored. Temperamentally unfit. This was what
politicians and commentators said when they wished to question Trump’s
state of mind but feared the consequences of a more colloquial assessment.
Yet the deeper we have plunged into this presidency, the more willing people
become to call it like they see and hear it. “I think he’s crazy,” Sen. Jack
Reed (D-R.I.) confided to his colleague Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) in a
July exchange inadvertently caught on a microphone. (“I’m worried,” she
replied.) CNN’s Don Lemon, flabbergasted after a Trump speech last month,
concluded that “he’s unhinged. .There was no sanity there.” Even some
Republicans have grown more blunt, with Sen. Bob Corker (Tenn.) recently
suggesting that Trump “has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor
some of the competence” to succeed as president.
We’ll reveal the dangerous case of Donald Trump our descent into
despotism, his into madness. Now, some psychiatrists and other mental-
health professionals are shedding long-held norms to argue that Trump’s
condition presents risks to the nation and the world. They break down the
Trump’s perceived traits, which the contributors find consistent with
symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder, sociopathy and other
maladies and warn that anyone as mentally unstable as Trump simply
should not be entrusted with the life-and-death powers of the presidency.
And, from there with historians, scholars and legal experts we’ll probe the
case that Trump’s abnormal and abhorrent behavior provides the foundation
for impeachment. We’ll hear from historians, scholars and legal experts who
in a powerful call to arms illuminate how Trump might be removed from office
by showing how his actions – past or future – make him uniquely vulnerable
to impeachment proceedings. You might conclude that Trump is of unsound
mind, or that we’re the deranged ones for electing him, or that America has
always been disturbed, with Trump’s presidency just the latest manifestation.
And here’s the really crazy thing: These options are not mutually exclusive.
