Sept. 27-29, DUMBO, Brooklyn: The Dumbo Arts Festival returns for three days to the neighborhood with all kinds of artistic installations, exhibitions and live performances. Over 500 artists are participating this year, populating the space under the arch and Brooklyn Bridge park, as well as opening their studios for tours and discussions.

Featuring artists From India, Turkey, Macedonia, Italy, France, The Netherlands and the US at Drom NYC in Downtown Manhattan, and including a Swing Festival dedicated to the music of Django Reinhardt at The Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at PACE University.

Highlights include the return of the Desert gypsies from India, RHYTHM OF RAJASTHAN, the eclectic Dutch ensemble ARIFA, the heavy brass orchestra YOUNGBLOOD BRASS BAND and Django's Dream, a very special Gypsy Swing Festival with STEPHANE WREMBEL, KAMLO & ALFONSO PONTICELLO.
The festival will also feature the Balkan Funk & Jazz sounds of NY GYPSY ALL-STARS, Italian Gypsy Folk band TALUNA, the album release concert of downtown multi-culti band TRIBECASTAN, NY heroes ESCARIOKA, a special film screening of the critically acclaimed BRASSLANDS and an afterparty with SAZET BAND and FRANK LONDON’S KLEZMER BRASS ALL-STARS.

Sneak Peak in Staten Island

Sept. 29, 11 a.m.-4 p.m: The hills and creeks of the closed 2,200-acre Fresh Kills Landfill are beginning their transformation into NYC's biggest and most fascinating new park, on Staten Island's west shore. Today is a preview of what the park will have to offer:


Sunday, Sept. 29, starting at noon: Rock and Roll Poster Bowl

Throughout the '60s and '70s, San Francisco–based artist Bonnie MacLean created a series of psychedelic posters for rock 'n' roll shows at that city's famed Fillmore Theater. Her colorful work, touting such acts as The Who and The Doors, will be on display at this FREE event. Get the chance to meet MacLean herself, as well as to view and bid on her iconic posters.
