NEW ORLEANS LEGENDS PT 1 - BIG CHIEF DARRYL MONTANA

Mardi Gras may be over but the party never stops in the great city of New Orleans. The Sweet Spot takes you on a journey with one of New Orleans most beloved cultural icons, Big Chief Darryl Montana, son of the legendary Tootie Montana and perhaps one of the most respected "Mardi Gras" or Black Masking Indians.

This Sunday is "Super Sunday" for the Indians and one of the most important nights. The Black Masking Indians named themselves after native Indians to pay them respect for their assistance in escaping the tyranny of slavery. It was often local Indians who accepted slaves into their society when they made a break for freedom. They have never forgotten this support.

This extraordinary soul exemplifies the spirit and overwhelming artistry of New Orleans. Because there are SO MANY incredible icons in NOLA, this will be a several part series throughout the year.

Tune in for an insightful conversation with a true NOLA legend!
