DR. ROSITA WORL AND CHARLES KADER
Dr. Worl is an anthropologist and for many years served as Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Alaska Southeast. Yeidiklatsókw has a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Anthropology from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Alaska Methodist University. She also holds an honorary doctor of sciences degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Dr. Worl has received many honors and works with several different Native organizations. She is an accomplished lecturer and author.
Dr. Worl and Tiokasin will be discussing a recent Asociated Press article, “Alaska Native group slams planned shamanism event.” In the second half-hour, Tiokasin is joined by Charles Kader. Charles, who lives in Cleveland, Ohio, will talk about the recent decision regarding the Cleveland Indians’ scrapping the stereotypical “Chief Wahoo” logo.
Charles "Chaz" Kader (Turtle Clan) was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to a World War II veteran father and Mohawk mother. He attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania, earning degrees in Communication and Library Science, as well as Mercyhurst College where he earned a graduate degree in the Administration of Justice. He has worked across Indian country, from the Blackfeet Community College in Browning, Montana to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe on the St. Lawrence River, and now resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
Chaz is a nationally known opinion and investigative writer who has most recently appeared in Cleveland.com and had 60 op-eds published by the former Indian Country Today Media Network between 2011 and 2017.
