POISONING KIDS: PESTICIDES ON SCHOOLS AND PLAYGROUNDS
You'd think not poisoning kids would be a no-brainer, but it's a no brains. Poison is put on playgrounds and schoolyards regularly to kill insects, including bees and butterflies as "collateral damage," and certain types of plants, including plants like clover that are able to enrich nitrogen in the soil. There are alternatives! Kindergarten teacher Paula Rogovin and many of her present and former students have gotten City Councilman Ben Kallos to sponsor legislation in the NYC City Council to ban poisoning kids that way. He already has several co-sponsors, but more are needed. Joining Paula will be Tiffany Finck-Haynes, who leads Friends of Earth's campaign to protect pollinators against pesticides.
Kids playgrounds SHOULD be poison-free
