LOWER EAST SIDE ECOLOGY CENTER & SEASON OF THE WITCH

Greetings! Ok we are now into the Fall Season and who better to talk about the change of seasons with us than Mama Donna Henes. Donna and I will talk about the significance of the changing seasons and also about this year's Greenwhich Village Halloween Parade. Each year Mama Donna leads the parade with her "blessing band' saging and speading good vibes through out the Village.

And Sinyee Tan will give us an update on the programs and E-waste pick-ups facilitated by the Lower East Side Ecology Center.

See ya 6:00 AM Saturday

Sinyee Tan, development director, Lower East Side Ecology Center

As native New Yorker, Sinyee Tan attended Brooklyn Technical High School and graduated from Boston University with a degree in Environmental Analysis & Policy. Her enthusiasm as an environmentalist and passion for sustainability led her to take part in environmental projects across the Northeast, cooperating with entities from businesses, nonprofits, and utilities. The Ecology Center’s mission to remove and reduce New York’s waste and increase the city’s scope in environmental awareness brought her to join Lower East Side’s team.

The Ecology Center works toward a more sustainable New York City by providing community-based recycling and composting programs, developing local stewardship of green space, and increasing community awareness, involvement and youth development through environmental education programs.

Also known as Outstanding Renewal Enterprises, Inc., we were founded in 1987. We were one of the first organizations to offer community-based recycling and composting programs in NYC, facilitated by providing innovative recycling drop-off centers. Today, the Ecology Center offers services and education for a range of environmental subjects: organics collection/composting, electronic waste recycling, and stewardship of public green spaces.

We focus on providing opportunities for all New Yorkers to learn about the environmental issues that our city faces. Furthermore, we also provide resources and solutions for addressing these issues.
