NEW "TRUMPCARE" BILL EMERGES IN THE US SENATE
In late July, the US Senate failed to pass 3 different Affordable Care Act (ACA) "repeal-and-replace" bills that opponents have generally dubbed "TrumpCare". Subsequenly, bipartisan efforts have begun to take modest actions to stabilze new insurance marketplaces created under the ACA, and many presumed that broader effort to go after the law was over and done. However, since the Senate returned from its summer vacation recess period last month, a new bill co-sponsored by Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Sen. David Cassidy (R-LA) has surfaced and is suddenly gaining legislative traction. Advocates believe it's the worst of all ACA repeal bills to be proposed.
Co-Host Mark Hannay interviews Patrick Willard, Senior Director for Campaigns with Families USA, about what's in the new bill, what it would mean for patients, health care providers, state governments, and what's the prognosis for it moving forward.
