HOUSING, LATINOS SPEAK, AND " POLICING THE BLACK MAN"

Jumaane Williams born of Grenadian parents is  councilmember  of the 45th District of the New York City Council. Which  includes Canarsie,  Flatbush, Flatlands, Marine Park and Midwood in Brooklyn. He currently serves as Deputy Leader of the New York City Council, and chair of the Committee on Housing and Buildings. A progressive voice in the city he is author of the Community Safety Act, Ban the Box (Fair Chance Act) and is considered by progressives as a strong candidate as future Speaker of the City Council

Maria Perez-Brown is co-editor of “Latino Leaders Speak: Personal Stories of Struggle and Triumph” and is a television executive. She is also author of “Mama: Latino Daughters Celebrate Their Mothers.” and a graduate of Yale University and New York University Law School.  

Professor Angela J. Davis is editor of a new book “Policing the Black Man: Arrest, Prosecution, and Imprisonment,” and Professor of Law at American University. She is a former director of the D.C. Public Defender Service and co-editor of several other books including “The Power of The American Prosecutor.”
