"TENNESSEE RISING: THE DAWN OF TENNESSEE WILLIAMS"

CAT RADIO CAFÉ: “TENNESSEE RISING: THE DAWN OF TENNESSEE WILLIAMS”
On this show we’ll talk to writer/actor Jacob Storms about his solo play, “Tennessee Rising: The Dawn of Tennessee Williams,” which, under the direction of the great Alan Cummings, explores the formative six-year period from 1949-1955 in which unknown writer Tom metamorphosed into acclaimed playwright Tennessee. We’ll be joined as well by Brian Reager, Associate Director of the cell, the theater whose mission is to present new works that “mine the mind, pierce the heart, and awaken the soul,” and whose garden provides the socially distanced backdrop to the play.
Jacob Storms is best known for his recurring role as Serge on Steven Soderbergh & Gregory Jacob’s Amazon Original Series, “Red Oakes.” An earlier version of “Tennessee Rising” received the United Solo Award for Best One-Man Show at the 2017 Best Solo Festival in New York City and headlined the 2018 Tennessee Williams Festival in St. Louis.
Brian Reager has been Associate Director of the cell since 2015. He is directing a play there in October called “Hoard” by Lisa Brennan.
