YOUTH HOMELESSNESS OFTEN OVERLOOKED, FORMER HOMELESS SPEAK OUT

by Clark Adomaitis, Intern from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

On any given night in New York City, there are over 45 unaccompanied youth under the age of 25 living in shelters and on the streets.

According to the Coalition for Homeless Youth, young people are often forgotten and not a part of conversations about homelessness. They don’t have access to much of the city’s resources and support.

Tamaine Hamilton, an activist with Neighbors Together, Joaen Villarin, director of the Safe Horizon Streetwork Project, and Maddox Guerrilla, an activist, all speak out.
