WBAI-FM Program Highlight
Radio Free Eireann

Saturday, February 22, 2014   1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

This Saturday, Radio Free Eireann will focus on Margaretta D'Arcy, the 70 year old artist imprisoned in Dublin's Mountjoy Jail for attempting to block US warplanes at Shannon Airport. D'Arcy is currently being treated for cancer. We will speak with Niall Farrell who, like her, is soon to be tried for attempting to block the runways a second time.

We will continue to ask you to donate to support WBAI and Radio Free Eireann by calling 212 209 2950. Anyone who can give $75 will receive Light of the Diddicoy, Eamon Loingsigh's brilliant novel about Irish gangs in Brooklyn in the early 20th Century.

Next Saturday March 1, Brendan Fay will be our guest to discuss St Pat's for All, the inclusive Queens St. Patrick's Day Parade. We will also have a live band led by Brian Fleming, the bodhran player who has come in from Ireland specially for St. Pat's for All.

Radio Free Eireann is heard on WBAI 99.5 FM and wbai.org on the web where the show is archived for 10 days. We broadcast live from Rocky Sullivan's of Red Hook, 34 Van Dyke Street in Brooklyn.
