New York State lawmakers passed a measure this week that, if signed into law by Governor Cuomo, would increase the number of organ donors through a mandatory choice on driver's license applications.
New York is one of the States with the lowest rate of registered organ donors at 15%. The national average is 40%. One of the people driving the campaign is 12 year old, Lauren Shields, for whom the law will be named.
