Students and activists gathered at City Hall to announce a new campaign, #SchoolGirlsDeserve to address systemic barriers to learning. They say that dress codes in schools sexualize girls and gender nonconforming students which unfairly target students of color.

Activists from Girls for Gender Equity and other groups say policing of clothing in schools sends a message to survivors of sexual assault that they are to blame for what happens to them. The activists hope that the campaign will push the Department of Education to increase the number of Title IX coordinators to address instances of sexual violence in schools that they see as part of a culture of sexual violence in schools.  Please click the arrow above for the story.
