FREE & CHEAP NYC - Week starting September 13, 2013
- 09/12/2013 by Angela Church & Maayan Schneider (WBAI)

Hello out there in virtual WBAI world!  Your friendly “Free and Cheap NYC” hosts are suffering from a bout of laryngitis due to computer glitches and moving issues.  Do not fret, for our golden (unanimously voted best word to use by the two of us) voices will be back again next week to tell you more about what is going on in NYC.

Until then, dear friends, read on:

CHILDREN’S BOOK EXHIBIT

And stop by the NY Library in Bryant park. Fantastic (and free) exhibit on children's books and their relevance not only in society now but in fashioning the mindsets of generations.  Makes one appreciate a truly good children's book; for as we all know, these stories stay with us well into adulthood.  Which story influenced you the most? (Maayan: The Folk of the Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. It’s the story of 4 kids who travel up a magical tree completely inhabited by strange, noisy characters, and at whose top there’s a magic land that completely changes every 7 days. I now think it is a parable of New York City.)
