Tolkien - The Council of Elrond

Synopsis:

"The Council of Elrond" by J.R.R. Tolkien as narrated by Baird Searles has become an annual tradition on Hour of the Wolf since the 1970s. The late, great Baird Searles reads Vol.1, Book 2, Chapter 2 of The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The chapter is self-contained, so you do not need to know the book (or movie, in which this chapter takes under five minutes) to capture that which has changed fantasy literature forever.

The reading was done by permission and with assistance of the author, who was available by phone when it was recorded in 1971. It runs a total of 1:29:00, so we will serialize it in two parts -- this week and next.
