ARTISTS WHO TOUCH PEOPLE
This week on State of the Arts NYC we have a number of special guests who create performance works that instill hope, joy and purpose. Joining us is
Mario Garcia Durham, Executive Director of the Association of Performance Art Presenters also known as APAP, a national service, advocacy and membership organization for presenters of the performing arts. APAP is dedicated to developing and supporting a robust performing arts industry and the professionals who work within it. And we have composer, musician and film director
Laurie Anderson on the show. She is a pioneering, multi-disciplinary artist and we are thrilled to have her talk with us about her role in METAMORPHOSIS that took place in Greece and works like Heart of Dog. Our stellar lineup includes
Jonah Bokaer. Bokaer has been active as a choreographer and exhibiting artist since 2002. The creator of 55 works in a wide variety of media (dances, videos, drawings, motion capture works, interactive installations, mobile applications, and film), Bokaer’s work has been produced in venues around the world, including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Festival d’Avignon, Spoleto Festival, La Triennale di Milano, and SOLUNA International Music & Arts Festival. And we cap our program with
Andrew Chiang, Executive Director of the Nai-ni Chen Dance Company. The dances of Nai-Ni Chen fuse the dynamic freedom of American spirit with the grace and splendor of the Asian soul. The Company's productions take the audience beyond cultural boundaries to where tradition meets innovation and freedom arises from discipline.
Listeners who support the show during our holiday drive will receive our NEW cd compilation MUSEUM EDGE featuring our contributor Irene Javors and Winter newsletter.
