ART IN A TIME OF CHAOS: MASTERWORKS FROM SIX DYNASTIES

Art in a Time of Chaos, China Institute Gallery

STATE OF THE ARTS NYC has the distinct honor of having Willow Weilan Hai, Director of the China Institute Gallery on our show to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the China Institute Gallery. And the show has developed a very special package to our listeners during WBAI's October fund drive.

Willow Weilan Hai has been engaged in the field of Chinese art history in the United States for more than 25 years. Her scholarly contributions to numerous exhibitions and catalogues have  been acknowledged by art critics and art historians alike.

Born and trained in China, Ms. Hai has brought a unique Chinese cultural perspective to the exhibitions under her leadership at the China Institute while also making them more accessible to the general public. The exhibitions under her direction have won broad praise from visitors and specialists in the field of Chinese art.

Art critic Holland Cotter states " China Institute Gallery consistently produces some of the best Asian shows in town, with first-rate material, handsome installations, and catalogues and exemplifies the curatorial direction museums should be taking today (The New York Times, September 19, 2003)."

This program has a featured premium that you can purchase to support this program and WBAI.
