Program description:
We are a forum to explore and represent the secular, non-religious life stance, based on Reason, Science, Secular Ethics, Humanism and Materialism--bringing you news, views, issues and culture from the Freethinking perspective. We represent a community of ideas, interests which include the concerns of Atheists, Agnostics, Skeptics, Humanists Rationalists, and other Freethinkers.
Host/producer profiles:
Sara Kaye: Like everyone else, I was born an Atheist, but early indoctrinated with religiosity--until I studied biology in college and learned about Charles Darwin and Evolution. Reading of such courageous women as Elizabeth Cady Stanton liberated me. I am a former NYC Board of Ed teacher of both elementary subjects and high school English.
Back in the late 70's, under the auspices of Samori Marksman, we initiated the first of a series of weekly programs entitled "Equal Time for Atheism," and, later, "Equal Time for Humanism," probably the first such programs east of the Mississippi. This series lasted about two years when personal problems intervened, and I was forced to leave the program. Samori would invite me back for occasional single programs of various related issues over the intervening years, for particular holidays and events. On the day I learned of his death, he and I had had an appointment to discuss a projected weekly series, dealing with Carl Sagan's classic book: "The Demon-Haunted World." After several years, I have succeeded in organizing another group of interested and talented individuals (listed herewith). We have now been producing Freethought programs since June 23, 2002, featuring interviews, presentations of "Great Freethinkers," music and phone-ins, Freethought News, and Freethought Events.
