and news, discussions, etc. about Cuba, US/Cuba policy and culture.

Host/producer profiles:
Sally O'Brien is a progressive journalist and media activist. Her journalistic career began in 1980 in the WBAI News Department. She has served as street reporter, Associate News Director, Interim Public Affairs Director, and Executive Producer of several programs at WBAI. She also designed & ran a News Department at WOMR-FM in Provincetown, Mass. She has written for The Nation, The Guardian, The City Sun, and The Advocate, among others. Currently an audio engineer with UN Radio, Sally also reports weekly to Associated Press "Special Edition" and Maryknoll Radio "Voices of Our World" and is currently working with the Peoples Video Network on a monthly cable program "Activist News." A longtime activist & organizer, Sally does media work on the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal and other US political prisoners, the Jericho Movement and the Justice Committee of the National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights.
Melissa Mark Viverito was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and came to New York in 1987 to attend Columbia College at Columbia University where she earned her B.A. majoring in Political Science. Ms. Mark has a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College, City University of New York.
Currently, Ms. Mark is Director of the Hispanic Education and Legal Fund (HELF) a citywide non-partisan voter registration campaign. Ms. Mark's prior employment includes working for the Census Bureau where she managed all local census operations for one of five Manhattan offices. As Deputy Director of ASPIRA of New York, from 1996 to 1999, she administered the agency's day-to-day operations.
Besides her professional life, Ms. Mark is very active in community affairs. She is a founder of Women of El Barrio, Coordinator of Todo NY con Vieques, Treasurer of the El Barrio Revolving Loan Fund, Board Member of the Violence Intervention Program and Board Member of Community Board 11. Ms. Mark was a delegate to the World Conference Against Racism in South Africa in 2001 and the International Women's Conference in China in 1995. Melissa is also a media activist acting as producer and co-host for WBAI during the past ten years.
