Program description:
City Watch, as part of the Same Boat Coalition, invites guests who are
involved with social, economic, political and cultural issues in New York
City. Our guests give information that we hope will enable our listeners to
actively participate in a more informed way.
Host/producer profiles:
Deena Kolbert is Senior Policy Analyst for a New York City non-profit
organization, Community Food Resource Center (CFRC) whose mission is food,
hunger and income issues for all New Yorkers. In addition, she is a Sculptor
whose mediums are clay, marble and metal. Active in a variety of
organizations: Steering Committee member of Same Boat Coalition - a coalition
of many organizations involved with democratizing the city's political
process and the general welfare of all New Yorkers;
Womanshare, an alternate economic barter system; Roxbury Farms - a

Community Support Agriculture (CSA); Common Cents - a non-profit
organization that empowers youth; WBAI - active in organizing.
William DiFazio, Ph.D., has been Professor of Sociology at St. John's
University for 22 years. Author of books and articles, including
Longshoremen: Community & Resistance on the Brooklyn Waterfront, The
Jobless Future, co-authored with Stanley Aronowitz, and Ordinary Poverty
(forthcoming). Member of Steering Committee of Same Boat Coalition,
member of ACORN, boardmember of New York City Coalition Against
Hunger, boardmember of Hunger Action Network New York State,
boardmember of St. John's Bread & Life Soup Kitchen.
