Dred Scott Keyes is a producer and journalist based in New York City.

He produced "The Gospel Truth: The Sam Cooke Story", "Sweet Soul Music: The Roots of Southern Soul Music", "Malcolm X Speaks to the Midnight Ravers", all of which won awards from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters.

Keyes was also the co-producer of "Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria's Oil Dictatorship", which won the George Polk award in 1998. 

He has written for the Amsterdam News in New York City and the Jackson Advocate in Jackson Mississippi and appeared in the 2005 documentary "Sweet Honey In The Rock: Raise Your Voice", seen on the American Masters series on PBS.

In 2004, he was invited by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to participate in a three- day conference on the life of Sam Cooke. Keyes is also a graphic artist, specializing in collages on such subjects as the blues, jazz, Afro-Cuban music and Malcolm X.
