Notes From The Left Forum: Chris Hedges

Chris Hedges addressing the Left Forum in NYC, May 20, 2016.
— Chris Hedges, Pulitzer prize winning journalist and author most recently of Wages of Rebellion: The Moral Imperative Of Revolt, addressed the Left Forum in NYC at a plenary entitled Capitalism and Militarism—At Humanity's Peril: Organizing Our Power.

—On the nature of power during this electoral campaign Hedges said, “It is not our job to take power. It is our job to make the powerful frightened of us. That is what movements do. Movements keep power in check.”

—One of the mistakes Bernie Sanders made according to Hedges was his decision to run under the embrace of the Democratic Party. He said we are watching him confront the fact that this is a rigged system, where the cost of running the primaries is paid for by the tax payers, yet primary rules are determined by the Democratic Party, so they can manipulate the system.
