— A new report was issued today by Peter Zimroth, the federal monitor overseeing reforms to the NYPD's stop-and-frisk program. It says many officers and higher ups don't understand what's expected of them. Darius Charney with The Center For Constitutional Rights says we need a buy-in throughout the chain of command for real reform. 

— NYC Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito at her State of NYC Address and NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo today on NY1 says Riker’s should be shut down. The Governor says it should be replaced with a modern, safer jail for New York City. Smaller community based jails is an idea being floated. 

— An audit from the NYS Comptroller shows neglect, squalor and fire hazzards in New York  Homeless Shelters. It sites inadequate oversight.
