WBAI MOURNS THE PASSING OF SIMON LOEKLE
- NYC 11/30/2015

It is our sad duty to inform you that Mr. Simon Loekle has passed away.  He left us peacefully around 1:50 am Saturday morning, November 28, 2015 - the time he would have routinely arisen to prepare for his radio program: As I Please.

A celebration of his life is being planned for February 22, 2016 at The Swift, on what would have been the date of his next scheduled Stand Up Academy. Please consult The Swift site for more information as it becomes available: http://www.simonloekle.com/

Simon, who began at WBAI in 1980, is missed by colleagues and listeners who have posted their messages on his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/simon.loekle

This post is from his ex-wife Nina Levine:

Dear Friends,

It is with infinite sadness that I tell you of Simon's passing. He left us peacefully around 1:50 am Saturday morning - the time he would have routinely arisen for As I Please.

He was remarkably alert well into Friday evening and I was able to read him all your beautiful messages of love and appreciation.

Thankfully his magnificent voice is preserved on recording. His light will shine forever.

Love to all.
~Nina
