In collaboration with The Studio Museum in Harlem and Visual AIDS, Columbia University School of the Arts is proud to present the uptown screening of ALTERNATE ENDINGS, a new video program celebrating the 25th anniversary of Day With(out) Art, featuring provocative work about the ongoing HIV/AIDS pandemic. For this special presentation, Visual AIDS worked with filmmaker and Columbia Film professor Tom Kalin to commission seven artists/collaboratives – Rhys Ernst, Glen Fogel, Lyle Ashton Harris, Derek Jackson, Tom Kalin, My Barbarian and Julie Tolentino. Screening will be followed by a talk with Tom Kalin.

ALTERNATE ENDINGS utilizes the medium of video to highlight the diverse voices of the seven commissioned artists as they bring together charged moments and memories from their personal perspective amidst the public history of AIDS. As a unifying concept, ALTERNATE ENDINGS signals the crossroads in which the artists position themselves during the present moment of HIV/AIDS cultural production: looking back at the historic past as they envision divergent narratives and possibilities for the future because AIDS is not over. Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+artists, and preserving a legacy.

To reserve your seat at this special screening and public dialogue RSVP to programs@studiomuseum.org.
