New York State Senate Public Hearing on Labor - Review of Local Minimum Wage Proposals - June 2, 2014
The New York State Senate Labor Committee held a public hearing in Albany on the minimum wage. Chair of the Labor Committee Senator Diane Savino said public welfare policies meant to prevent families from falling into poverty are actually aiding the big box stores and fast food chains. The panel questioned policy experts about this and low wage workers shared their stories of not being able to make ends meet.

Frankie Tisdale, a 26 year old with two children lives in Brooklyn. He works for $8.00 an hour at KFC. He says what he’s going through is demeaning to him as a man.
